Travel & Stay

Vancouver welcomes you!

Travel

Getting Here

The best flight fares are available 3-5 months in advance.

The arrival airport is Vancouver International Airport (YVR). It’s about 25–35 min from downtown Vancouver by taxi or Uber, and about 30 min by SkyTrain.

There are no direct flights if you’re coming from Peru, so you’ll likely connect through cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Mexico City, Dallas, Atlanta, or Los Angeles.

Passport & Entry

Please make sure your passport is valid for your entire trip, and do your paperwork ahead of time to avoid delays or issues.

Entry requirements vary by nationality, so we recommend checking Canada’s official immigration website to see if you need a visa or eTA before booking your flights.

If you’re connecting through the USA, remember you might need an American visa as well, even for layovers (if you don’t have one, it might be best to avoid travelling through the US).

Where to Stay

Best areas to stay in: Kitsilano, West Point Grey, Downtown Vancouver, Yaletown, Coal Harbour, Mount Pleasant.

For group bookings, look into Airbnb and VRBO.

For lodging, try to avoid Chinatown and areas too close to East Hastings St, between Carrall Street and Clark Drive, to ensure safety and peace of mind.

When to Arrive

We recommend arriving 2-3 days before the wedding to have time to adjust after your flight, recover from jet lag, and enjoy Vancouver before the big day!

If you’re travelling a long distance, consider making a vacation out of it!

Weather

It’s springtime in April!

The temperature can vary widely, ranging between 5-16°C (41-60°F) on average, with peaks of 20-23°C (68-74°F) during the day, and lows of 0-3°C (32-38°F) at night.
Days can be dry and sunny, but there’s always a chance
of rain.

Pack accordingly! Dress in layers, and don’t forget to bring an umbrella or raincoat.

Getting Around

If you won’t have a car, Uber and Lyft are widely available in Vancouver, and they are the easiest way to get between the airport, your hotel, and the wedding events. Don’t forget to download the apps in advance!

You can also take advantage of Vancouver’s great public transportation system, which has trains, buses and ferries. They make it very easy to explore the city and its surroundings. You can pay for transit using a Compass Card (available online or at the train stations) or a contactless credit or debit card.

If you’re planning to visit places outside the city—such as Whistler, Deep Cove, the Sea-to-Sky Highway, or some hiking trails—you may want to consider renting a car for a day or two.
